Role Overview

The Sales and Business Development Manager is responsible for originating, developing, and closing renewable energy supply opportunities across industrial and energy-intensive sectors.

This is a commercially focused role, translating market opportunities into structured, bankable energy solutions aligned to customer demand and Apollo’s trading strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of energy-intensive customers who can benefit from a wheeled energy supply agreement.

  • Build and maintain strong networks within energy-intensive sectors.

  • Support bids and proposals with clear, financeable solutions aligned to customer demand profiles.

  • ⁠Deliver flexible solutions that align with customer load requirements and operational needs.

  • ⁠Ensure all agreements comply with regulatory, tariff, and compliance standards.

  • ⁠Contribute to the growth and diversification of the customer portfolio.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has senior-level commercial experience in the energy sector⁠

  • Brings established networks across industrial, mining, or commercial energy markets.

  • ⁠Has a proven track record of structuring and closing customer energy agreements, including experience in PPA negotiation.

  • ⁠Understands South Africa’s regulatory and tariff environment for wheeling and embedded generation.

  • Brings strong business development and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and deliver results in competitive markets.

  • Is adaptable, collaborative, motivated, and comfortable with working independently.

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to structure executable deals.

  • High-quality written and presentation skills.

  • Strong communication and negotiation capability.

  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. 

  • Knowledge of CRM, Monday.com, HubSpot, SalesForce.
